There are dinners… and then there are events. Taste of Brazil in Newark, NJ falls into the second category. If you’ve never tried a Brazilian Rodizio, imagine this: a parade of gauchos bringing endless skewers of sizzling meat straight to your table, carving slice after slice until you finally surrender.
I went in thinking, “Okay, I’ll just pace myself.” Spoiler: I did not pace myself.
Pre-Game at the Buffet
Like any proper Rodizio, the night starts at the hot buffet and salad bar. I piled my plate high with Brazilian rice and beans, a little stew, some fresh salads — and honestly, if dinner had ended there, I’d have been happy. But I knew better than to fill up too soon. The real show hadn’t even started.

The Endless Parade of Meat
Then came the gauchos. One by one, they arrived with skewers of smoky chicken, juicy pork, tender beef cuts, and the star of the night for me: melt-in-your-mouth short rib.
Every slice was carved right in front of me, piping hot and perfectly seasoned. And the best part? They just… kept… coming. I lost count somewhere between the second helping of beef and the third round of chicken, but I didn’t care. My only real decision was when to finally flip my card to red and admit defeat.
The Little Things That Made It Special
Between the meat marathons, the servers slipped in surprises: caramelized grilled pineapple (sweet, juicy, and the perfect reset) and warm, chewy Brazilian cheese bread that I couldn’t stop reaching for. These little bites broke up the heaviness and gave me just enough reason to go in for “one more slice.”
Taste of Brazil isn’t just a restaurant, it’s an experience. From the loaded buffet to the gaucho tableside service and indulgent desserts, it’s the kind of place where you sit for hours, laugh with friends, and forget how many plates you’ve had.
If you love bold flavors, endless meat, and a dining vibe that feels like a party, this spot belongs on your NJ foodie list. Just maybe wear stretchy pants.
